Sabin

Sabin sits in the heart of NE Portland, bordered by King to the west, Vernon and Concordia to the north and east, Alameda to the south, and Irvington to the southwest. The neighborhood's diversity — economic, ethnic, and architectural — is its defining characteristic. Bungalows and craftsman homes mix with newer infill development, and the community has long centered on Sabin Elementary, one of Portland's most beloved neighborhood schools. Community gardens on NE 11th Ave and active parks reinforce the neighborhood's commitment to shared green space.

Commercially, Sabin punches above its weight along NE Fremont and NE Prescott. A signature mixed-use development at NE 15th and Fremont houses a Whole Foods Market (3535 NE 15th Ave), a Starbucks, and a Multnomah County Library branch, anchoring daily life for thousands of residents. French restaurant Verdigris (1315 NE Fremont) brings fine dining to the corridor. Extracto Coffee Roasters, though now headquartered in nearby Concordia (2921 NE Killingsworth), grew its brand in this corridor. The Sabin Community Association maintains an active advocacy role at sabinpdx.org, making it one of the more organizationally engaged NE Portland neighborhoods.
