Platform District
The Platform District is Hillsboro's emerging transit-oriented development area, planned to bring mixed-use residential, retail, and office density to the heart of Washington County's tech corridor. Located near the Hillsboro Airport and the MAX Blue Line, the district takes its name from the transit platform concept — building dense, walkable urban fabric directly accessible by light rail.
Hillsboro is home to major Intel campuses and dozens of semiconductor and tech companies that form the backbone of Oregon's Silicon Forest. The Platform District is designed to give workers in this corridor a walkable urban environment with housing, dining, and services within walking distance of MAX stations, reducing car dependency in one of Oregon's fastest-growing cities.
The district is in active planning and early construction phases as of 2026, with mixed-use buildings, ground-floor retail, and multi-family housing slated along the corridor near the Hillsboro Airport/Fairgrounds MAX station.
Boundaries: Located in Hillsboro, OR near the Hillsboro Airport, bounded approximately by NE Cornell Rd to the north, NE 5th Ave to the east, SE Baseline St to the south, and the Hillsboro Airport to the west. Adjacent to the Orenco Station area to the northeast.
