Montavilla Village

Montavilla takes its name from "Mount Tabor Villa" — the residential suburb that grew up east of the ancient volcano in the early 20th century. The neighborhood spans from 68th Avenue west to I-205, and from the Banfield Freeway south toward Division, with 82nd Avenue bisecting it north-to-south. At its core is the Montavilla Village commercial strip on SE Stark Street between 76th and 82nd Avenues: a walkable cluster of independent businesses, taverns, cafes, and community spaces that has been the neighborhood's social center for over a century.

In recent years, Montavilla has emerged as a hub for East Portland's creative and culinary scene. Montavilla Brew Works at 7805 SE Stark has been a cornerstone of the neighborhood taproom revival, pouring Northwest-style hoppy ales and German lagers with a large covered outdoor patio. The Montavilla East Tabor Business Association (METBA) organizes the annual Montavilla Street Fair each summer, drawing thousands to SE Stark Street. The neighborhood is also deeply woven into the Jade District tapestry, with a concentration of Vietnamese, Thai, and Korean restaurants along 82nd Ave. With a population near 16,900 and 15+ bus and MAX connections, Montavilla is one of outer Portland's most transit-accessible and walkable east-side communities.
