About

Cedar Hills

Cedar Hills occupies a sweet spot between Portland proper and the broader Beaverton suburbs — close enough to the city to feel connected, established enough to have its own settled identity. The neighborhood dates its commercial core to 1969 when Cedar Hills Crossing (then Beaverton Mall) opened at SW Cedar Hills Boulevard, making it one of the older retail anchors in Washington County.

Today Cedar Hills Crossing has 70+ shops and restaurants operating across its footprint, with a tenant mix that rewards browsing: Powell's Books Cedar Hills (open since 2006) remains a serious destination for bibliophiles and hosts regular author events. Elephants Delicatessen, beloved Portland institution known for prepared foods and specialty groceries, operates a location here. Dance Togs — in business for over four decades — recently relocated to the center. Crumbl Cookies and City Home (playful modern home furnishings) round out the mix.

Residentially, Cedar Hills is a classic mid-century suburb with tree-lined streets of ranch homes and split-levels built in the 1950s–1970s. Sunset Transit Center (MAX Blue Line + multiple bus lines) sits immediately adjacent, making Cedar Hills one of the more transit-accessible inner-ring Washington County neighborhoods. Cedar Hills Park and its recreation center provide community sports fields and programming year-round.

Boundaries: Roughly bordered by US-26/Sunset Hwy to the north, SW Walker Rd to the south, SW Murray Blvd to the east, and SW Cedar Hills Blvd to the west. Sunset Transit Center is at the northeastern corner.
