About
Aloha is one of Oregon's most quietly remarkable communities. Technically an unincorporated census-designated place in Washington County — meaning it has no city government of its own — it has nonetheless developed a strong civic identity driven by its extraordinary demographic diversity. Niche.com ranks Aloha as Oregon's 2nd most racially diverse suburb, with a Latino population of 25.5% and an Asian population of 10.7%; minority-owned businesses account for 28.8% of employer firms, more than double the state average.
The commercial spine of Aloha runs along SW TV Highway (Tualatin Valley Highway) and NW/SW 185th Avenue. This corridor is dense with small, independent businesses: produce markets, Latin grocery stores, halal butchers, taquieras, Vietnamese and Korean restaurants, and family-owned service shops. 185th Produce (18485 SW TV Hwy) is a neighborhood institution for fresh fruits and vegetables. Sabor Salvadoreno (3460 SW 185th Ave) draws diners from across the metro for Salvadoran cuisine. The Garage Food Carts (3695 SW 185th Ave) gathers a rotating collection of food cart operators.
Aloha is also home to The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club — one of the region's most prestigious 36-hole courses — and a growing network of community parks. The Aloha Community Library Association has advocated for a permanent public library branch for the community. Without incorporated city status, Aloha's civic needs are served by Washington County, and the community's economic and civic advocacy happens primarily through the Aloha Business Association and neighborhood volunteers.
Boundaries: Unincorporated Washington County area west of Beaverton. Roughly bounded by SW Farmington Rd to the south, NW Cornell Rd to the north, SW 158th Ave to the east, and SW 209th Ave to the west. TV Highway bisects east-west.
