I spend 4 hours here with wife and two young ones and we all had a blast! It was an early spring day, slightly overcast but not raining. The variety and viewing of the animals was a great experience! My favorite is always the otters. The rest of the crew’s favorite were the giraffes. The cutest and most interactive encounter was with a tiny duck in the aviary squawking at everyone. This trip we even took a ride on the carousel which is small but worth it. A couple times ago we did the train and it’s definitely worth it too!

More reviews on GoogleAwesome animals! The bears and the cats were very active. Zoo keeps were playing with the polar bear. There are a few cafe options, but they were very crowded. Bathrooms were often and clean. There are occasionally days with discountes tickets, so check those out - just know that the park might be busy. Definitely handicap accessible. You can bring your own food and drink inside. You can purchase tickets at the park, but you need an email to get a receipt. Definitely would recommend - take the MAX rail, it drops off right next to the zoo and park shuttle. The ticketing staff let us in the park before our ticketed time, which was really nice, but you can choose your entrance time if you book your ticket in advance. You can do this in a few hours if there are only certain animals to see, otherwise, I would plan to be there most of the day.
Five stars all the way! The Oregon Zoo is beautifully laid out, clean, and incredibly engaging. The habitats feel spacious and thoughtfully designed, and you can tell the staff truly care about conservation and animal wellbeing. From the elephants to the big cats and playful primates, every exhibit is a highlight. It’s perfect for families or a relaxed day exploring. One of Portland’s best attractions, I can’t wait to visit again!
Haven't been in 4 years. Prices really aren't worth it anymore. Family of 5 was $115. Lots of animals were missing, with coming soon signs on exhibits. All the bears were asleep inside (it's winter and they semi hibernate). They haven't got any zebras since the last one died of old age. It was okay. The kids loved it or I would have less stars. Wish they wou l discount entrance fees when they don't have a full zoo. It was nice that it wasn't crowded like summer.
We went for the holiday "Zoo Lights." The parking was good (as in not far from the entrance). It cost around $10. The entrance to the zoo was very welcoming, festive, & alluring. The staff at admissions was very kind, helpful, & patient. We had a problem with our tickets & they were so helpful clearing things up with a smile. I like that they offered a prepaid option for drinks & snacks when ordering our tickets online. That line was way shorter than the regular lines for food & drinks. However, the prepaid elephant ears we purchased were a very cold, thin, hard, greasy slab of crust with a little cinnamon & sugar. Not worth $8. On the flip side, the hot chocolate was great! They also offer spiked hot chocolates! :) The animals weren't out, as we went to the last viewing in the evening. I guess they were tired & cold..🤷🏾♀️ But the bats were up & active! 😂 I had never paid that much attention to the details of a bat until that night. lol... Anyway, the lights were gorgeous & very creative in most areas. Some areas just didn't look like they put much creative thought into it. It did get a little boring from time to time. There were also a few spots where the lights weren't working, but overall it was a cool experience. I would for sure go again but a little earlier in the evening to see at least some of the animals. We didn't consider that they may have been sleeping at that last viewing. They also had warming firepit areas throughout the zoo. We had a cool convo with another family that was warming up around the pit. It was a nice & needed touch. We were able to rest from all the walking & warm up. The next time we go we'll ride the train they offer. Unknowingly, it goes to areas we could'nt get to on foot. My final rating would be a 3.5-4 out of 5.
