Amazing collection and fascinating stories. The pieces we saw were incredible. Caleb has done a remarkable job honoring his mother’s legacy. He was obviously very knowledgeable and shared interesting stories of how his mother obtained such a wonderful variety of fabrics and fashion pieces. We were able to see a few pieces his mother had designed and they were true works of art. Caleb was very warm and welcoming and we had a fantastic visit. We are all excited to attend the exhibit in October of this year. Caleb, thank you for such an interesting tour and glimpse into your mother’s life, she sounds like she was a remarkable woman.

Amazing collection of textiles, patterns, fiber and designs from around the world. Caleb took us a world wide tour of his mothers life and all the places she acquired textiles. We learned a bit about her involvement in the fashion industry and her clothing designs. The collection is a fun gateway into other cultures and their stories. However, the setup is somewhere between a museum, a design studio, a memorial and an archive. Maybe the uniquely Portland part is that it is all of those things and a great experience. But some additional curation and stories about the meaning behind the pieces would add an additional element to the museum. But maybe that's the highest praise you can give a museum - that it sparked my curiosity and desire to learn more and appreciate more of the world around us. I would highly recommend checking out the textile hive.

So happy to finally take the time and tour Textile Hive. What a collection. Caleb shared such a wealth of information. We could easily ask questions and share our experiences. His mother sounds like she was a very interesting person. Will definitely encourage others to take the tour. Looking forward to Textile Month next October.
