I really like the variety of movies that they show here, especially their Cinema City series (80s/90s Hong Kong films). They also sometimes show new movies so there’s something for everyone. The popcorn is great and they have my fave kombucha brand too! A great indie theater all around!

This place is amazing! Location has lots of street parking around, the staff is very helpful and courteous, and they have very fun memorabilia on display. Will definitely be keeping an eye on showtimes for the future.

Portland’s Best Movie Theater! What a place!! Comfortable seats, very clean and lots of unique decor, a must see for all true movie fanatics and cinema nerds. Excellent customer service, great drink and snack selection in addition to the unmatched popcorn topping bar-dill pickle for the win!!! Family friendly, great for date nights or an escape from reality on a whim!

Rare indie theater that actually has a huge screen. Feels so classic inside. The volume is perfectly loud - I’ve been to all theaters in SE/NE and they usually lean quiet, but Cinemagic plays it loud which I love. Also, maybe best theater marque in town. Great rotation of classics and new movies, with affordable prices. Go! Support them!

A great little cinema on Hawthorne! We watched Taxi Driver on 35mm yesterday, and the whole experience was perfect. From the moment you arrive, the entrance board sets the tone — it feels like stepping back in time. The space has a nostalgic, traditional charm, with a small area featuring booth tables, vintage movie posters, an old-school popcorn machine, and super friendly staff. It’s got a great vibe. The theatre itself is beautiful. We didn’t catch the gold curtains in action, so we will have to return! The seats are spacious and comfortable, and it’s open seating, so you can just walk in and choose where you’d like to sit. Before the movie started, a staff member introduced the film, shared info about upcoming shows, and gave a brief update on the cinema’s progress. It felt warm and personal, such a refreshing change from the usual digital ads and trailers (this screening didn’t have any, since it was shown on 35mm!). I’d highly recommend checking this place out. Tickets are just $10, and they have great snacks, drinks, and atmosphere. Definitely keep an eye out for their 35mm screenings, there’s something incredibly nostalgic and warm about them.
