I had the Lowcountry Shrimp and Grits. The addition of two over medium eggs really elevated the experience, combining well with the grits and sauce. The shrimp themselves were rather plain, and I got the impression they were cooked separately and then had the sauce added. The meal was still very tasty, but it was lacking that last bit of flavor. The atmosphere is great and it has a full bar in addition to the dining area.

Fried Chicken Dinner is very good. Chicken waffle and chicken sandwich are also good. The price is on the higher side but the portion size justifies it. One downside is that they don’t have vegan options. They have veggies options that come with cheese but you can ask to make it vegan. However, the portion size for the vegan option is so small as you can see in the photo.

The food is awesome and the service is typically great. Atmosphere has a cozy southern vibe to it. They make what is arguably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! It’s got a super flaky crust with just the right amount of crunch and the chicken is super tender and juicy. I always recommend the chicken and waffles but it seems like everything they make is really good. It’s a busy spot, so make reservations or show up early with time to wait for a table. The porch is enclosed with heaters in the winter.

We absolutely love this place, it is a Portland must visit. Screen Door brings southern food and service to the PNW. We eat here regularly but also love to hit them up for a special occasion. This morning New Years breakfast was a must have for the Black Eyed Peas and they did not disappoint. Devina was a gracious, friendly and outgoing waitress that delivered top notch service that matched the drinks and food. Thank you for starting out our 2026 on the right foot.

This southerner approves! Many delicious options. Definitely Gulf Coast inspired. You can never go wrong with anything praline or shrimp & grits!! Can't wait to bring my husband by. Street parking and I was able to find a spot just around the corner! I do not own the phrase "just around the corner" according to Joe Fox.
