Fuel pump died on me on I-84 eastbound during the afternoon commute, right where the Columbia River Gorge starts opening up. No warning whatsoever, car just lost all power and I barely coasted to the shoulder before traffic caught up to me. It's a fast stretch out there and the shoulder is not generous. Called Leon Trusty Towing and the dispatcher stayed completely calm, which helped me stay calm. Got my exact location, gave me a 40 minute ETA, and told me to stay in the car with my seatbelt on until the driver was visible behind me. Driver showed up with his hazard bar going, set up reflectors, loaded the flatbed clean and we were off. First time I've ever broken down on a highway and I hope it's the last but if it isn't I already know who I'm calling.
