I started going to La Sirenita when it first opened way back in the mid to late 90s when I lived in the neighborhood. It's nice that they have survived Alberta's "progress" and the racial demographic changes of the neighborhood. They are one of very few businesses that have. I no longer live in Portland, but in a rural area nearby, so I haven't been to La Sirenita in many years. But I happened to be in the neighborhood to meet a friend and I had a hankering for a burrito - my fave back in the day was a super burrito with chicken, so for nostalgia's sake, I ordered the same. While the price of that burrito has more than doubled (inflation sucks), the flavor was just the same - tasty and homey, just like I remember. And the salsas offered in the salsa bar were muy delicioso. Also, their friendly and quick service is just the way I remember. I always try and support small and minority owned businesses whenever possible, and this one is one of the best. While "you can't go home again", every now and then I have an experience in one of the very few old Portland haunts left that makes me feel like I can. La Sirenita is one of them. I hope this place last forever.

More reviews on GoogleLets start off with the basics: the refried beans and red rice are delicious! I got the chilaquiles plate and it too was delicious! It comes with rice and beans, two fried eggs and your choice of meat. Great portion! I come here everytime im in town.
Mole rojo burrito ⭐⭐⭐✨ - don't think I'd order again but was pretty good if that's what you want - I think it's too heavy for me Nopales burrito ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - my partner ordered this and I was jealous - it tastes well rounded Asada looked good, I might try that next time for myself.
Excellent Mexican restaurant, I recommend this place 100%. The owners are very friendly. We ate, menudo, pastor huraches, enchiladas, and hamburgers, and it was exquisite, everything fresh and cooked to order. I loved the pastor; the flavor is absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend this place.
This place was so cute. I wanted to try a Portland staple and this was recommended. The food we got was big and came out super fast. I ordered the cosfilas and nopales which is short ribs with cactus and it was amazing. It taste just like my grandmas food. My partner ordered the steak platter and it was really good too
