My Wife and I had our car towed to this shop in January due to the alternator going out. The only reason we chose this shop was because it was one of the few places AAA would tow to at night. Once they took a look at the car in the morning, they found about $5000 worth of work needed. Which was strange since we had just had it looked at a few months prior by a trusted mechanic. We declined most work suggest by them, but did approve the alternator and drive belt to be repaired. Once we received the car back, it only took a few days for the new belt to start squealing. Today, we took our car to our trusted mechanic in Sellwood, who informed us that NONE of the work suggested by this shop (including the brakes that Art of Maintenance claimed we on their last mm) was needed except the sway bar. The brakes (which were changed by our trusted mechanic in September) were fine. Our trusted mechanic also found that our belt was installed incorrectly, as it had not been tightened and showed wear consistent with belt slippage. I am very disappointed. I feel that because we drive a “beater” and are women that we were taken advantage of. I would strongly suggest a second option for anyone who gets an outlandish quote.
