Alan is a virtuoso and extremely knowledgeable. Also, he is easy to talk to. Naia is very helpful and nice as well.

Alan Jones teaches Life through jazz. His mentorship gave me skills that no university can offer. Teachers like him are rare. Do whatever you can to get yourself or your child under his wing. You will not regret it.

As a novice horn player, I was super intimidated going into AJAM for the first class (and the second, and the third, and fifth, and tenth), but every time, I was delighted and inspired, coming out of each experience with more confidence and joy than I'd gone in with. The teachers were always cool and helpful to the level of each student, and the music we made together was an experience I couldn't have appreciated at all from just my time at home or in 1:1 lessons or from watching and listening to others--it was simply something that I had to be there for, to be a part of. Highly, highly recommended for anyone looking to learn from and play with others, especially if you don't have the means or experience (or confidence) to do so otherwise.

There is no other music school in town where you can learn the craft of jazz improvisation and communication at a high level. Alan Jones inspires his students to play to their strengths and he identifies weaknesses regularly with more clarity/precision than any other mentor I've had. For me, AJAM was a place to test my beliefs/ideology as a musician without fear. If it weren't for Alan's mentorship from high school through part of college, I'm unsure whether music would be a priority as it is in my life today.
